It’s officially springtime in Breck and that means sun’s out, fun’s out! Okay, we can’t actually guarantee the sun part because it is spring in Colorado after all and that means any and all types of weather are entirely possible, however we can totally guarantee the fun part!
NEW this spring we are excited to announce the Five Peaks Music Series, alongside the annual Splash into Spring Pond Skim Event, presented by our partners KONA Big Wave. Events will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28 and feature musical acts Ghostland Observatory, the Lil Smokies and Jayceeoh. The weekend will also feature events, activations and samplings from our friends at KONA Big Wave, Mountain Dew, Toyota and T-Mobile
Schedule of Events
It all kicks off on Saturday, April 27 at 10 AM on Peak 8 at the annual Splash into Spring Pond Skim where skiers and riders can send it into spring and see if they sink or skim as they try to make their way across. Prizes will be awarded for best overall skim, best costume and best splash. Registration is set to go live on Saturday, April 13 at 8 AM.
Following the pond skim on Saturday, Ghostland Observatory kicks off the inaugural Five Peaks Music Series that same afternoon with a free on-snow concert starting at 2 PM.
The spring party rolls into Sunday with day two of the Five Peaks Music Series starting with Jayceeoh at 11 AM and The Lil Smokies at 2 PM
All events and activations will take place at the base of Peak 8, with the concert stage and event activations located on the snow in between the Five SuperChair and Colorado SuperChair.
Spring Lifts & Terrain
Springtime is for the high alpine! And it also happens to be one of our favorite times of the year on snow with plans to operate into May as weather and conditions permit. We'll be operating all Five Peaks through Sunday, April 14, and then we’ll begin to transition into our late season operating footprint. While operations are always subject to change and Mother Nature has the ultimate say, if everything goes according to plan, following is what we have on tap for late season lift operations.
Starting Monday, April 15, the following lifts will operate for late spring skiing and riding:
Peak 8
Please be advised, there will be no beginner terrain available after April 21. Base area access out of Peak 8 is planned through April 28; after that all access to late season skiing and riding will be out of Peak 7.

BreckConnect Gondola, Transportation and Parking
The BreckConnect Gondola will operate daily through April 28 for access to Peaks 7 and 8. After April 28, the BreckConnect Gondola will be closed for the season until we open for summer operations in mid-June. This is a part of our collaboration with the Town of Breckenridge to help support the health of the Cucumber Gulch Preserve and wildlife that migrates through the gulch and under the gondola in the spring. Skiers and riders can utilize free bus transportation from the Gondola Lots and Town up to Peak 7 for late spring operations.
Starting May 1, the North and South Gondola Lots will offer free parking for the remainder of the ski and ride season.
Ski & Snowboard School Lessons
Group and private lessons with the Breckenridge Ski & Snowboard School will be available through Sunday, April 21. For information and to book, visit our Ski & Snowboard School webpage.
